First Skating Experience!

For our Life Group at church today we met after morning worship at the Brentwood Skating Center.  Grant and Madison have never been skating and it has been years since I have been!!  They were nervous, but very excited!  When all of our Life Group members got to the Skating Center we met in one of the "party rooms" for our devotional and singing before we hit the rink!  We had a great devotional and the kids love singing!  We had a lot of falls but all in all the kids had a blast and they want to go back real soon!  Here are some pictures from today!

This is how Grant and Madison started,
but it didn't take Grant long to catch on!

Madison spent most of her time on the carpet
area skating around.  I took her around the
rink a couple of times.  The first time she went
she could not stand up very well.  Then the last time
we went around before we left, she didn't fall at all.
I did hold her hand the whole way, but it was a
huge improvement from the beginning!  She loved it!

Here is Grant skating great around the rink!
I was super proud of him!  He was doing great!

They were giving out glow sticks during the
playing of  "YMCA" song to ones that were
skating and doing the motions as they skated!
Grant was so excited that he got one!
You can see how hot he was, he had worked
up a huge sweat skating!

This is me and my friend Mykal.  We were skating around
with the kids and everyone had a great time!

New Family Addition!

Well we had an exciting weekend.  Eric left early Saturday morning to bring home our new addition!  She is a beauty too!  The kids were thrilled when dad rolled in with our new BOAT!  ;o)
Grant and Madison were thrilled when Eric brought it home!
They had to get on it and check it out.

They were checking it all out!

Now we can't wait to go to the lake!

Back to School Bash (8-12-11)

Last Friday night (8-12-11) we all week to the "Back to School Bash" at Columbia Academy.  It was a HUGE meet and greet of all the new families that have come this year to CA.  We have over 100 new students just in our elementary.  They were all given new CA decals for the car and lots of other stuff.  The kids were all running around playing and eating their snow cones.  One of the local fire trucks came over and let the kids get in their truck and were giving away hats.  Here are some pictures of that.

Here is a picture of Grant, Madison and her friend Ella with the local firemen.
He picked Madison up since she was the smallest!  She liked that!
Here they are again inside the fire truck.

Here is Grant with his hat, I had
to get it before he took it off.

Williamson County Fair!

Grant and Madison have had a great first week of school....  They are so busy and tired and so am I!  Eric decided we would take the kids to Williamson County Fair last night because the kids wanted to go.  I really think Eric wanted to go more than the kids!  We got there and there was a lot of activities going on and I will share some pictures with you and tell you what we saw.

When we got there we went outside first to listen and watch a cowboy
talk about Lassoing and demonstrate it for us.  They both
wanted to get on the horse and get their picture made.

They had a farmer's market set up where the children got to get products and then
sell them back at the end for a treat!  They both really enjoyed this!

They were both brushing a sheep and then they gave them a
bag of wool to sell at the end at the market.

They had to take some corn seeds out of their bag and
plant them in the dirt and then cover it back up!
They told her that they knew how to do this they did this in our Garden!

Then we went back inside and they had Simulators set up and of course
that is where Grant and Madison and Eric wanted to go!

Madison watching Grant drive!

The Circus was also inside and we had to watch it also!
The kids really enjoyed watching this!

Here are the two Wanted Men!!

The BMX trick bikers were also there and Grant was loving it!
We had a great time at the fair and the BBQ Nachos,
Sweet Tea and Pork Rinds were awesome!

Week in Review!

This week we are winding down and ending summer!  Can you believe summer is already over!  I start in-service next week so we are gearing up ready to hit the books!  Grant and Madison have their backpacks ready with all their school supplies and lunch box!

I have pickled okra for the first time.  I hope it is yummy!  I have had pickled okra before and liked it so I wanted to try to make it myself.  The only downside is it takes 6 weeks before I can get into my jars!!!  Here is a picture of Grant helping me pickle okra!
Grant likes to help he just doesn't
like the smell of all the vinegar etc...

peppers and okra for pickling

Madison and Grant have been helping me get my room ready for my upcoming 5th Graders!!  We went by yesterday and put the finishing touches on my classroom door.  It was all Grant's idea and it turned out great!  Grant and Madison have been a big help all summer since I had to move my whole classroom back to the main campus this summer. They have helped me get my room organized and clean.  Here is a picture of Grant and Madison after we got my door ready yesterday!
The door says "We're going to have a BLAST in 5th Grade"
That was all Grant's idea and it looks great!  Madison put the pink
planet "Saturn" at the bottom.  She said it needed it on the there
and it looks great!  Thank you Grant and Madison for helping me!!

We also helped out a friend yesterday by watching their children for a few hours.  Here are some pictures of them playing and having fun!
Grant, Grace and Lucas having fun on Grace's 4-wheeler.

Zach is pretending to ride Madison around on his 4-wheeler!

Madison loved playing with Zach!

I loved this picture, they both have red cheeks from playing outside!
